Just over 5 weeks left until I attempt my second marathon at London and to say training hasn’t been great would be an understatement.
Started training with an achilles issue which I thought would wreck any chance of actually making London. Luckily that settled down in time to give me a chance.
Recent poor weather, a weekend away at a wedding and then a suspect hamstring have prevented any decent mileage being clocked up.
With 38 days to go, my best efforts have been a 13 mile run followed by a 15 mile run 2 weeks later. With a 14.7 mile run at Kielder Night Skies in 2 weekends time, that pretty much leaves this week to get a long run in before the taper process should kick in.
So, today I’m off work and the plan is to run 16-18 miles. I’m very apprehensive about it as I’m still not sure on my hamstring, but it will be slow and steady.
